Elon Musk has shot down former President Donald Trump's calls for 'termination' of election rules in the US Constitution after the release of Musk's 'Twitter Files' relating to the cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop story.

The former president made the explosive statement in the early hours of Saturday after Elon Musk claimed to reveal proof that Twitter - which he recently acquired for $44 billion - worked in tandem with Democrats to tip the scales in the 2020 election.

Just before 8am on Saturday morning, Trump took to Truth Social to assert that Musk's exposé, published by journalist Matt Taibbi, proved 2020 was 'fraudulent' and called to strip current election laws from the US Constitution.

'So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?' the ex-president fumed.

Criticism has come at Trump from all sides of the political aisle, with the Biden administration going out of its way to respond Sunday.

Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates swiftly rebuked Trump in a searing statement: 'Attacking the Constitution and all it stands for is anathema to the soul of our nation and should be universally condemned.'

'You cannot only love America when you win,' Bates said. 'The American Constitution is a sacrosanct document that for over 200 years has guaranteed that freedom and the rule of law prevail in our great country.'

'The Constitution brings the American people together - regardless of party - and elected leaders swear to uphold it. It’s the ultimate monument to all of the Americans who have given their lives to defeat self-serving despots that abused their power and trampled on fundamental rights.'

House GOP Rep. Mike Turner told CBS News' Face The Nation of Trump's furious comments, 'It's certainly not consistent with the oath that we all take.'

'I vehemently disagree with the statement Trump has made,' he said.

Turner went a step further on Sunday and suggested it could hurt the former president as the 2024 election cycle gets underway - with Trump so far being the only GOP candidate to formally declare a campaign.

'There is a political process that has to go forward before
