Texas Democrat Joaquin Castro led support for Ted Cruz and his family today after the Republican Senator's 14-year-old daughter was hospitalized with self-inflicted wounds.

Cruz is yet to offer an official statement but his representatives have confirmed Caroline, his 14-year-old daughter, is 'OK' and expected to make a full recovery. Police were called to the family home last night shortly before 8pm.

Today, support poured out on social media for the entire family, with many calling for an end to political partisanship for the sake of the child's health.
