A father has admitted to killing his own 11-year-old son by beating him after previously claiming the boy had fallen out of a tree.
Michael Harrison, 41, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mikey Harrison when he appeared over a link from HMP Nottingham in Derby Crown Court.
Dressed in a grey tracksuit top and jogging bottoms, the defendant admitted to causing the death of the boy but denied a more serious charge of murdering him.
Throughout the short hearing, Harrison leaned forward with his head on a desk, lifting it only to enter his pleas.
