An adviser to former President Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign has admitted 'the magic is over' as Trump spends the day after Christmas trashing GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell.
Trump tore into McConnell on Monday over his role in helping pass a bipartisan $1.7 trillion 'omnibus' spending bill to keep federal government agencies and the military funded through September 2023.
Olivia Nuzzi, a writer for New York Magazine who has profiled Trump in the past and wrote their feature story about his 2024 campaign, has said that even his key allies have become cynical.
The unnamed advisor said: 'It's not there. In this business, you can have it and have it so hot and it can go overnight and it's gone and you can't get it back. I think we're just seeing it's gone. The magic is gone,'

The source cited the likes of Seb Gorka and Devin Nunes as 'D-list' stars who show that 'we’ve got a problem.'
Nuzzi told CNN Monday: 'That was an advisor speaking to me saying that the magic is gone and this person was not sure that Trump would be able to get it back. That's sort of the difficult thing about a campaign that is really about a personality. Even if it were to be run in a really common sense way, would it really matter if the personality that it was built around is not really on his game?'
She further went on to suggest that, based on her reporting for the New York Magazine piece, that Trump's 'mojo is gone.'
In her profile, Nuzzi said Trump seemed uncomfortable with the phrase 'governed by' and emphasized that he did not like the idea of being under the rule of another person.
'Well, I live in Florida,' he said, 'but you know, when you say 'governed by' him …' Trump appeared to flinch.
Nuzzi has described the campaign for president as a 'sad, lonely, thirsty, broken, basically pretend run for reelection.'
