Furious Republicans who voted for George Santos call for him to step down after ... trends now
Furious voters are calling for George Santos to step down after it was revealed that he lied about his career and being a grandson of Jewish Holocaust survivors.
The Republican, 34, is under federal, state, and local criminal investigation after he admitted to lying.
Since the revelation, his supporters have taken to the streets of Long Island to call for him to resign ahead of him being set to be sworn in in Washington DC.
'George Santos is a fraud,' Teodora Choolfaian told CNN. 'This man should not be allowed to be in office, and we all know it. I want to assure you the Republicans know it too.'

They've called him a 'fraud' and a 'fake,' but Santos has yet to announced resignation plans
Choolfaian had even attended a rally with Santos in late January, where protesters stood along a roadway chanting: 'My child, my choice,' as they protested COVID-19 mask mandates in schools.
But like several of his former supporters, she has begun to turn on him after it was revealed he lied about multiple things, such as when he claimed his mother died in the 9/11 attacks and that he worked for Goldman Sachs.
The most hard-hitting lie among voters was when he lied about his Jewish descent. Long Island has the fourth largest Jewish community in the US, behind NYC, LA, and Southern Florida, according to SUNY Press.
Genealogists have been unable to find Santos' connection to Holocaust survivors, which has the Long Island Jewish community saying Santos is a 'make-believe person.'
'He's a person that's really not there,' Jack Mandel, a Jewish community leader, told CNN. He also said he 'absolutely could not' vote for Santos again after this.
'I couldn't in good conscience,' he said.
'Once someone lies to me, I can never trust that individual again.'
Many of his supporters held signs that read 'liar' and 'don't reward a liar' to express their distaste for the newly-elected Congressman.
