As millions gear up to ring in the New Year, either from their homes or celebrations across the country, former U.S. president Donald Trump has used the last hours of 2022 to take a swipe at those he deems to be 'destroying' America.

The remarks came as passionate posts made to the alt-tech media platform, created by the former president in October 2021, Truth Social, and has so far been reposted and commented on thousands of times.

He goes on to wish a happy new year to those who 'love and cherish' the U.S. while name checking Mitch McConnell, his wife Elaine Chao, as well as Nancy Pelosi in a separate post.

The former president was booted off Twitter in January 2021 and reinstated back in November 2022 after the controversial $44 billion takeover by Chief Twit Elon Musk.
