A new Brexit deal for Northern Ireland seemed more likely last night after Britain and the EU agreed to share trade data.
In a significant breakthrough, the UK said the EU would be given access to data detailing the flow of goods from mainland Britain to the province.
The two sides hailed the agreement as a 'new basis' for resolving the long running row over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
A source close to European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said: 'It is indeed a big step, and it could be a door-opener for more.'
The new agreement follows talks in London between Foreign Secretary James Cleverly (pictured) and European Commission vice-president Maros Sefcovic
