A friend who celebrated New Year’s Eve with missing Massachusetts mother Ana Walshe said that there was ‘no indication’ that anything was wrong.

Ana, 39, and her husband Brian, 46, had people over to their home in Cohasset which was ‘festive’ and an ‘elaborate meal’ was served.

The couple reportedly ‘toasted’ the new year just hours before the real estate executive vanished in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

She has not been seen since, with cops discovering traces of blood, a hatchet, a hacksaw, a rug and used cleaning supplies while searching dumpsters while looking for the mother-of three.

Walshe has since pleaded not guilty to 'misleading authorities' in connection with his wife's disappearance

He told law enforcement he got lost on his way there on January 1 - which he claims is the last day he saw his wife.

Family friend Gem Mutlu told WBZ-TV: ‘We hugged and celebrated and we toasted just what you do over new year's.

‘There was a lot of looking forward to the new year. There was no indication of anything other than celebrating the new year, problems on hold.’

Mutlu said he was shocked after receiving a call from Walshe to say that Ana was missing.

He says that they hugged goodbye at around 1.30 in the morning, after partying at the Walshe’s home.

Ana had been sitting on a barstool in their kitchen, texting her friends during the meal and party.

Mutlu added: ‘There was absolutely no indication that any modicum of a tragedy, of disappearance, or anything else could have happened that night.

'Both Ana and Brian have been individually and together very impactful on my life. My biggest fear had shifted towards the children, I wondered if the children were safe.

'A part of me had this suspicion all along that there may have been foul play and that somehow just the story just wasn't adding up.'

The couple had been staying in separate homes, with Ana commuting to DC for work and staying in their $1.4million property there.

She was reported missing by her employers on January 4, with her husband failing to raise the alarm to officials.

Cops investigating the disappearance of Massachusetts mother-of-three Ana Walshe have found traces of blood, a hatchet, a hacksaw, a rug and used cleaning supplies while searching dumpsters near her mother-in-law's home.

The new development follows the revelation that Walshe had searched the internet for 'how to dispose of a 115-pound woman's body'.

Police were also seen in the parking lot of an apartment complex where Walshe’s mother lives, with dumpsters being hauled away with a police escort to the transfer station in Peabody to be searched
