Family pay tribute to teenager, 17, killed in Sunderland car crash on A1231 trends now
The devastated family of a 'funny, outgoing and beautiful' teenager have issued a heartfelt tribute to her after she died following a horror crash.
Seventeen-year-old Mia Marsh was due to become an auntie for the first time this year but lost her life last month after a devastating collision in Sunderland.
Shortly after 1.20am on December 3, police were called to the new stretch of the A1231 between the Northern Spire and Queen Alexandra bridges in the city.
Attending officers found that a black Vauxhall Astra had left the carriageway and crossed the central reservation before colliding with fencing on the opposite side of the road.
An 18-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains under investigation.

Ms Marsh, from the Hylton Castle area of the city, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Today her father Gary, mother Danielle and sister McKenzie paid tribute to the teen.
They said: 'Mia was funny, outgoing and beautiful. She would light up a room and was one of a kind.
