Members of the San Francisco reparations committee - who have demanded $5million for each long-term black resident - have previously slammed America as a 'racist country,' while others have called the city one that struggled with 'white supremacy'.

The San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee released a draft report in December to 'address the public policies explicitly created to subjugate Black people in San Francisco by upholding and expanding the intent and legacy of chattel slavery.'

The 14-strong group is also proposing that the government wipes out all debts associated with education, credit card, payday loans and personal loans for black households.

Now Dailymail.com can reveal the individuals behind the proposals.

Chair of the group, Eric McDonnell, claims that the creation of the committee was 'politically easy' but believes their plans will have a 'different climate' reaction.

It is separate from the task force created by California's legislature, which is also studying reparations, with the San Francisco committee being formed in May 2021.

The city group's report says: 'Reparation must be adequate, effective, prompt, and should be proportional to the gravity of the violations and the harm suffered.'

As a result the proposal could cost the city, which has a 2022-2023 budget of $14billion, roughly $50billion.

Those eligible must be 18 and show that they have identified as black or African American on public documents for at least ten years.

DailyMail.com has a closer look at those making the decisions on the committee, which is chaired by a certified life coach with a degree in public administration.

Certified life coach Eric McDonnell is the chair of the committee, which made the suggestions in a report last month.

He holds a BA degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco and says that he has experienced' two sides' to the city.

Speaking previously about slavery, he said that he believes white Americans still benefit from slavery to this day.

He said: 'This country has been complicit since its creation, and not just in the act of chattel slavery.

'I believe the harms that have been perpetuated on and against black Americans have both historical as well as present impacts.

'When white Americans say I didn't do it, that may be factually true, but it doesn't speak to whether they benefited or not, because they are benefiting.

'And because they have benefited, there is a moral obligation [to] be willing to invest in this.

'Centuries of harm and destruction of black lives, black bodies and black communities should be met with centuries of repair.'

Tinisch Hollis serves as vice chair on the committee and also as an Executive Director of Californians for Safety and Justice.

She also co-founded San Francisco Black Wall Street and is the 'community appointed power broker' of the non-profit.

On the website she is described as an 'individual who has been displaced from San Francisco due to gentrification.'

Rev Dr Amos C Brown

Dr Brown worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr and has previously said his great-great-grandfather was born enslaved

Civil rights leader Dr Amos Brown studied under Martin Luther King Jr, and was arrested during a sit-in in 1961 to protest segregation in the south.

The Reverend also sits on the California reparations committee, which is organized by Governor Gavin Newsom.

He told the San Francisco Chronicle that 'America is a racist country,' explaining that his great-great-grandfather was born enslaved in 1821.

It is unclear if the recommendations by the group will be introduced nationally, but if so, it could mean that Dr Brown may be one of the recipients of the cash payout the group recommended.

Dr Brown also added that you need the 'right kind of police', and that 'the police need to understand that to wear that badge is not license for you to beat up on human beings.'

Retired veteran Gloria Berry turned her hand to the task force after failing to be elected to local government on two occasions in 2018 and 2020.

She admits to having been jailed for six months due to possession of marijuana and titles a newsletter 'White Supremacy in San Francisco.'

Berry, who was also homeless for several months, claims that 'concerns about people of color' is just a 'flashy Twitter trend' and are 'hollow'.

Her role on the committee is to fill the seat for an 'individual who has experienced or is experiencing homelessness.'

She also believed that 'police must be held accountable', and spoke about being disabled in a run for DCC in 2020.
