The ex-boyfriend of Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves has created an Instagram account paying tribute to their dog Murphy, who was inside the home during the quadruple homicide but was uninjured.

The account featuring sweet images of the goldendoodle appeared on Tuesday, and within a day had garnered more than 53,000 followers and scores of comments expressing sympathy and support.

Police in Moscow, Idaho found Murphy unharmed, inside Kaylee's third-floor bedroom with the door closed, following the November 13 murders of University of Idaho students Kaylee, Maddie Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in an off-campus house.

Kaylee had split custody of Murphy with her former longtime boyfriend Jack DuCoeur following their breakup just weeks before the murders, and he has been caring for the pup in the aftermath of the brutal crime.

Though police quickly and publicly cleared DuCoeur of involvement with the murders, he was falsely hounded and accused by online 'sleuths' until charges were announced against lone suspect Bryan Kohberger late last month.

The new Instagram account is written in the dog Murphy's voice, with the first post reading: 'Missing my mom every day, but trying to live my best life. I got to admire her beauty in the sky this evening.'

The posts have drawn expressions of support for Murphy as well as Kaylee's loved ones, with one Instagram user commenting: 'Jack and Murphy you BOTH stay strong! Jack thank you from sharing Murphy with us! Sending prayers.'

DuCoeur had dated Kaylee for about five years before the couple separated about three weeks before the murders -- though friends and family have said they believed the split was temporary, and expected them the get back together.

Last month, DuCoeur's aunt Brooke Miller spoke out saying that he was heartbroken to be falsely accused of the murders by online theorists.

She told the New York Post: 'He's not only lost the love of his life, and what we all thought and he probably thought as well, would be his future wife — you know, get married and have kids and all of that.'
