Junior doctors have hit out at union bosses for making strike action solely about pay.

They say the British Medical Association’s aim of a 26 per cent pay rise is ‘unrealistic’, and the Royal College of Nursing played a smarter hand by arguing strikes are needed to recruit and retain nurses.

The BMA is balloting its 48,000 members until February 20. If they vote to walk out, it plans a 72-hour strike in March.
