Firebrand conservative Andrew Bolt is known for his take-no-prisoners style of strident political commentary but his latest newspaper column has revealed a rarely seen romantic side.
Bolt, 63, dedicated the column to his journalist wife Sally Morrell as he paid tribute to their love story, prompted by going on a dinner date to celebrate her 60th birthday.
'She (Morrell) looked so beautiful, and I wondered again by what miracle we - I - end up married to someone who makes you happier, stronger and less flawed,' Bolt wrote in the Herald Sun.

The couple were married in 1989 and have three adult children.
Bolt wistfully reminisces about how he first fell for Ms Morrell, who he met when they were both working for the predecessor of Melbourne's Herald Sun newspaper.
'I noticed Sally’s warm brown eyes in our first real chat in a café ... and felt certain she was loved and
