A mother who flew into a foul-mouthed rage after her neighbour splashed a drop of paint on her chair while decorating has blamed her vicious outburst on her period.

Sabrina Abdelkader, 33, had a 'meltdown' over the 'inconsequential' accident, waking up trainee lawyer Marisa Salvi with a furious Facetime call and raging: '"What the f*** have you done with my chair? - it's covered in paint".'

Abdelkader from Lache, Chester, then stormed round her neighbour's house to continue her torrent of abuse, smearing banana on the front door before squaring up to Miss Salvi and screaming: 'Are you taking the p**s out of my chair?'

Miss Salvi was then assaulted by the defendant, who pushed her with both hands - while Abdelkader's six-year-old son watched on = before a neighbour intervened. When asked about the attack, Abdelkader admitted she had over-reacted, saying she was suffering from 'menstrual pain' and that her hormones were 'all over the place'.

But magistrate Theresa Whittingham took a dim view of the excuse, telling the defendant: 'You are saying this is the result of personal circumstances and the time of the month. But 50 per cent of the population have that problem and we do not go around behaving like this.'

Chester Magistrates' Court heard the clash erupted on the morning of September 11, last year.

The victim had only been at the property 'around the corner' from Abdelkader for four days - although had known the defendant for three years, having previously lived next door to her, prosecutor Tanya Berridge-Burley said.

Abdelkader, who was described as having an 'intense personality and likes to get very close', had allowed Miss Salvi to borrow a chair to help redecorate the new home.

Mrs Berridge-Burley later told the court how the complainant was invited over for a drink on September 10, using the chair to sit and talk with neighbours.

'At this point there were no issues with the defendant who had never presented as angry at her or anything like that,' the prosecutor told the court.

'However, at approximately 9.30am on September 11, she was woken up by the phone ringing. She checked to see who it was, it was the defendant video calling her on FaceTime.
