New Jersey surgeon father sues daughter's wedding photographer who left him ... trends now

A New Jersey surgeon has launched a legal bid against his daughter's wedding photographer, who left him $76k out of pocket.

Dr Amit Patel, 59, paid Clane Gessel and his studio up front for him to photograph his daughter's wedding in Turkey in May 2022.

However, five days before the bride and groom, Anisha, 28, and Arjun, were set to tie the knot, Gessel emailed Patel asking to change the accommodation for his staff.

Court documents state that Gessel had previously agreed to stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Bodrum Isil Club Resort with his staff.

But on May 21, he demanded that they be accommodated at the Mandarin Hotel Bodrum – a five-star hotel – at the expense of Patel.

In an email, Gessel stated his position was 'non-negotiable', adding that he would decide 'who is shooting what and when'.

The lawsuit states that in the original agreement, Gessel advised that he would be the 'main photographer at every event' and left Patel 'stunned'.

Gessel then advised that he would need an email or a contract to sign before he and his team got on the plan.

Patel refused to agree to the demands and found a replacement photographer to take photos and videos of his daughter's wedding – which was featured by Vogue.

In court documents, Patel calls Gessel's failure to photograph the event a 'blatant anticipatory breach of the Service Agreement.'
