Two innocent men were killed Tuesday night while police were pursuing a stolen vehicle in a northern Los Angeles neighborhood.

The men, now identified by friends and family, were driving back from picking up tacos just down the street from where they lived when their Honda Civic was struck.

The victims, Christopher Teagardin, 47, and Timothy Schultz, 49, both died after a stolen truck driven by Oscar Delacruz, 32, hit them at a high-speed while evading police.

Delacruz also struck a silver sedan before coming to a stop near the intersection of Lanark Street and Woodman Avenue in LA's Panorama City neighborhood.

The man has been arrested and will face murder charges police said. He is being held without bail at this time.

The incident began with a report of a stolen vehicle Tuesday evening.

The Los Angeles Police Department first received a call about a stolen truck in the 10600 block of El Dorado Avenue just after 7.30pm.

'At the time the suspect was fleeing from officers, as the air unit came overhead, that suspect struck a vehicle that was going northbound on Woodman Avenue and, tragically, the two people that were inside of that vehicle have passed away as a result of that traffic collision with the suspect,' Los Angeles Police Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said.

Delacruz drove just over four miles through northeast Los Angeles before slamming into the car holding the two men around 8pm.

The man had two passengers in the vehicle who were taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Authorities told ABC7 that officers believed one of the men from the pickup truck may have been suffering from an overdose. The third person was a woman.
