Melbourne-based photographer Matt Lawson shared a video on Sunday of the green parking spaces at Mernda Town Centre's Woolworths, in the city's north. In the video, Mr Lawson showed a Woolworths sign in front of carparks marked out in green. The sign reads: 'Reserved Parking. Low emitting, fuel efficient vehicles only.' It then lists the cars that qualify to park in the spaces which include cars that use five litres or less per 100km driven as well as hybrid and electric cars. A Woolworths carpark in north Melbourne (above) has spaces marked in green that are reserved for low emission vehicles 'I've just come across this wokeness at a new level,' Mr Lawson said in the clip. 'Reserve parking, low emitting, fuel efficient vehicles only at Woolworths. 'They've got green spaces so if this place is busy you can only park in the green spaces if you fit that criteria. 'That's crazy.' He captioned the short video: 'Discrimination at a car parking level. This is “wokeness” on steroids. My poor little 7.1/100km Captiva was deeply hurt and will need counselling.' 'I’d park my 32-year-old diesel 80 series there in a heartbeat,' one commenter said. 'We'll all be shopping at Coles,' another wrote. 'Meanwhile I'm a wheelchair user who can't push myself in the chair, can't afford an electric chair and I can rarely find enough disabled parking,' a third person said. 'No more Woolies shopping for me,' another commented. A fifth said: 'It's public parking I’ll park where I want.' Daily Mail Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
