T.J. Holmes buys ring and Tiffany chain for Amy Robach trends now

Promises, promises! Star-crossed T.J. Holmes took his love for Amy Robach to new heights for her 50th birthday.

Despite being out of work, the former GMA3 anchor was spotted buying a gold promise ring and a chain to hang it on as he prepared for Monday, the day his sweetheart reached the half-century mark.

Holmes, 45, stopped first at David Yurman's downtown Manhattan store where he walked away with an 18-karat gold Unity Cable ring that goes for $650, part of the bridal/wedding collection.

Then he sauntered over to nearby Tiffany & Co. where he snagged a gold chain. He promptly looped the ring on to it to see how it looked before the clerk popped it into the store's distinctive robin's egg blue bag and T.J. walked away with both bags and a glint in his eye.

The thoughtful gift means Amy will be able to wear the sign of commitment around her neck pending the formal end of both their marriages.

A friend of the couple tells DailyMail.com, 'T.J. and Amy are more in love than ever.'

T.J. bundled up in a thick navy blue Canada Goose coat, black and white sweatpants, an army fatigue scarf and sneakers. He stopped for hot coffee in between stores to warm up during New York's big freeze this weekend. 

While in the luxury stores, he enlisted the help of sales associates to find the perfect gift for his dear Amy. 

While T.J. went ring hunting, Amy was seen grocery shopping in Manhattan. 

The TV host carried three black grocery bags and was casual in jeans, boots and a sweater. 

The celebration of Amy's Big 50 comes just days after the pair sealed the exit deal with ABC after weeks of negotiations.

A friend of the couple said they are under a lot of pressure now that they're out of a job and have divorces pending. 

'It's kind of proof of how committed they are to each other that they've weathered this sh**storm after their secret love affair was exposed, they were suspended from GMA3 and then waited for agonizing weeks as ABC kept them in limbo about their future,' they said. 

'But don't forget that T.J. and Amy were friends long before they were lovers. Their relationship began with an awfully strong bond that - to this point - has only become, well, more.'

An industry source said, 'What the future holds for T.J. and Amy professionally is hard to say right now. Their on-air chemistry would probably be magnified and audiences would gravitate to them. But there still a lot of baggage there - especially for him.'
