Sex scandal minister Alan Tudge is stepping down as an MP saying he wants to be a 'better father' and revealing that his teenage daughters have been subject to death threats.
The former cabinet minister, 51, will quit his role as the federal member for the outer-eastern Melbourne seat of Aston, which will trigger a by-election and pave the way for a possible return of former treasurer Josh Frydenberg to politics.
'It's not been an easy decision for me, but it is necessary for my health and for my family, amongst other reasons. I certainly have not taken this decision lightly,' he told Parliament on Thursday.
