Nearly five million bottles of Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner were recalled by manufacturer Colgate-Palmolive on Wednesday.

Fabuloso's statement said there is 'a risk of bacteria growth in the recalled products' that may expose people to 'serious infection that may require medical treatment'.

The recalled products include 4.9 million bottles in the U.S., and 56,000 in Canada, produced between December 14, 2022, and January 23, 2023.

According to the statement, the risk of bacteria is due to a lack of preservatives not added at the correct levels during the manufacturing process.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission also released the urgent recall notice warning people of bacteria that enter the body 'if inhaled, through the eyes, or through a break in the skin'.
