Jill Biden on Thursday said her husband, Joe embodies the American dream, a 'man of the middle class'  who went on to become president of the United States.

She shared his stories to a group of Namibians as the country builds its own democracy in the wake of its independence from South Africa. Namibian has a huge youth population, making up 43% of the country, according to UNICEF.

One teenager at the luncheon at the State House, Moses Filipus, 17, spoke of how he consumes social media to learn more about U.S. culture.

'The American dream is something that is envied by a lot of people that are not from America.  This is no secret. All of us consume - we consume the media,' he said.

'I think that I speak for most of the youth that, now, it is the goal of the modern youth to achieve the American dream that we see on TV so much. That is why there is a huge disparity between us and our parents. They don't understand that the dream we see on TV is something that we would like to achieve.'

Jill Biden shook his hand after he spoke and addressed his remarks in her own speech.

'Moses, you really don't have to turn on the TV or go to the social media to look for the American dream, because I think you'll find it in our president, my husband, Joe Biden,' she said.

'He is a man who really started as a man of the middle class, who believed that he wanted to make a change for people - just somebody in your neighborhood. He became president of the United States.
