Dan Walker revealed today he has no memory of the moment he was hit by a car while riding his bike, as he prepares to return to Channel 5 News for the first time since the crash.

The broadcaster hailed 'the magic of make-up and prescription drugs' as he appeared at an awards evening last night - seemingly without a scratch - just days after the horror smash.

The former BBC Breakfast presenter, 45, first shared the news of the incident with a post on Instagram, showing him with cuts to his face and a bloodied nose.

He has since tracked his progress with a series of posts in the days that followed, before showing off his remarkable recovery in a backstage video from the Royal Television Society journalism awards last night.

Mr Walker then appeared on Jeremy Vine On 5 this morning to discuss the events of the last week-and-a-half, revealing he still has 'lumps, bumps and grazes' and a bruise on his right hip, and that his children compared him to Wolverine, the Marvel character known for his healing powers.

'I've got zero memory of any of that, I can't remember anything from the moment I arrived at the roundabout.

'But it's things like that, the goodness of people in difficult situations so I'm very grateful to be here and doing the job I love, going back on telly later.'
