California locals called police after seeing an eerie figure dressed as Scream killer Ghostface standing ominously at crosswalks in a quiet town.
The masked figure was spotted looming at the edge of a crosswalk in Sonoma on Monday.
They then crossed the road, before mugging for the camera wearing the ghoul mask first seen in 1996, when the original Scream movie premiered.
Unlike the fictional Ghostface of the movies, this one wasn't wielding a blade, and didn't slash anyone to death.
On Monday, Sonoma Police were flooded with calls by frightened residents reporting a suspicious person- dressed in black hoodie and white mask - standing at the historic town square near First Street East and East Napa Street at Sonoma Plaza
When officers went to investigate they learned that the person underneath the costume was nothing to fear but was there to promote the upcoming horror flick
