Shocking footage has lay bare the crippling drug crisis in San Francisco as EMT workers are seen attempting to revive four people who have overdosed on Fentanyl.

The video viewed by thousands on Twitter shows four people hooked up to life-saving devices as emergency service workers try to save them. 

A by-stander can be heard counting the number of people who said appeared to be laying dying on the street from apparent drug overdose.

It comes as the city claims to have seen its first significant drop in accidental drug overdose deaths.

Sirens can be heard blaring in the background of the 15 second video as bystanders appeared indifferent to the scene unfolding before them, some pedestrians simply moving to the other side of the street.

The EMT workers appeared proficient in their execution of the life-saving procedures that were taking place in broad daylight. 

The caption reads 'Three [counted four in the video] simultaneous overdoses on the sidewalk of San Francisco.'

It goes on to cite new legislation being set down by California Governor Gavin Newsom: 'But don't worry Gavin Newsom is laser focused on drag queens right to perform for children in Tennessee.' 

San Francisco is trying to curb the drug issues - and this year vowed to open 70 residential step-down beds to offer recovery-settings for people leaving residential substance use disorder treatment.

In 2022, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which collaborates with SFDPH in its distribution of the medication, distributed more than 40,000 doses of naloxone alone and reported 5,127 reversals.

The city has also geared up more than 2,000 people in the last year - teaching them how to recognize and respond to an overdose, while
