A Boy Scout watched on in horror as his mother was crushed to death by a falling tree during a hike in the California mountains.
The unidentified mom was with her son, 17, at the Rancho San Antonia Park 'PG&E Trail' in Santa Clara on Sunday around 10am when she paused to make sure he was safe before being struck.
Witnesses recalled the accident - and said that within seconds they rushed to help the woman, who was with Sunnyvale Boy Scout troop.
'We were trying to see if we could lift the log that was on her body. And see if we could lift it up a little bit, to see if she could breathe,' Surya, a witness, told KTVU. 'We lifted it a little bit enough so that there was a clearance. And then we put
