MEGHAN MCCAIN: Surely, the lapdog media can't ignore evidence Fauci lied about ... trends now

For too long, America's doctor, Tony Fauci, has been beyond reproach to the mainstream media and Democrats in Congress.

Like convicted swindler Michael Avenatti or failed New York governor/nursing home destroyer Andrew Cuomo, reporters and left-wing politicians found Fauci too valuable to undermine.

He gave countless interviews extoling the wisdom of lockdowns. His face graced the cover of Time magazine. He expertly skewered Donald Trump. They loved that. One left-wing paper even declared him the 'sexiest man alive.'

To them Fauci, surely, could do no wrong. Though now, it's hard to see how they'll completely ignore this smoking gun.

On Sunday, a new Republican House investigation dropped a bombshell. And Dr. Anthony Fauci has some explaining to do.

House Republicans found evidence suggesting the former White House chief medical adviser secretly encouraged medical researchers to write an academic paper dismissing the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a Chinese lab. Then, Saint Anthony stood at the White House podium, before the American people, in the depths of the pandemic, and said that he had nothing to do with it.

Strange? Yes, I'd say so.

Here's the timeline as laid out by a House Republican memo:

On February 1, 2020, Fauci and more than a dozen other scientists held a conference call during which he was first warned that COVID-19 may have been a man-made virus that leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

Three days later, four participants of that call drafted a paper on the origins of COVID and sent it to Fauci and others for 'editing and approval', according to the House investigators.

On February 12, 2020, the article was pushed to the science journal, Nature. It blew off the claim that COVID had been leaked from a lab as, 'improbable.' And it was accompanied by an illuminating note by its co-author, who revealed the paper was 'prompted' by none other than Fauci and others.

But curiously, here's how Fauci presented that paper's finding to White House reporters on April 17, 2020, when he was asked if COVID could have come from a Chinese lab.

'There was a study recently,' he said, 'where a group of highly qualified evolutionary virologists looked at the sequences… in bats as they evolve and the mutations that it took to get to the point where it is now is totally consistent with a jump of a species from an animal to a human…'

Translation: COVID couldn't have leaked from a lab because it occurred naturally.

And the kicker: 'So, the paper will be available,' Fauci reassured the reporters. 'I don't have the authors right now, but we can make it available to you.'

'I don't have the authors right now'?

It appears Fauci not only knew the authors – he directed
