Moment police rescue woman stabbed 29 times and left to die by ex-partner she ... trends now

This is the shocking moment police officers rescued a woman who had been stabbed 29 times and left to die by her violent ex partner, who she met on dating site Match.com. 

Martina Turner, 54, suffered horrific injuries which have left her permanently scarred, including numerous stab wounds, a bleed on her heart, two broken ribs and a burn on her leg.

Ms Turner, astonishingly, survived the horrific knife attack in her home in Winlaton Mill, Gateshead on May 21, 2020 despite being stabbed so violently the blade snapped. 

Her then boyfriend Steven Wood, 55, had locked her up in her home, before fleeing to the Redheugh Bridge and throwing himself into the River Tyne following the attack. 

Shocking footage shows the moment Northumbria Police officers forced entry by smashing a window and Tina hiding in a cupboard covered in a pool of her own blood. 

Wood, who is bipolar, was triggered into the frenzied rage after Tina told him she would be going out later that day. 

Paranoid that Ms turner didn't want to spend time with him, Wood took a knife from the kitchen drawer and ran at her from behind and began stabbing her with force so brutal that the blade snapped.

Undeterred, he selected another knife and continued to attack his partner of two years, despite her begging for her life and pleading with him to call for help.

Chillingly, he then told Martina, 'I have to finish you off, I'm not going to prison for you', during the ferocious bid to kill her.

It was only after he plunged a knife into her chest that he called his son and confessed to doing something 'bad'.

While the call was taking place, Tina was able to quietly whisper for help, before Wood left the property, locked the doors and hid her key.

He then drove to the Redheugh Bridge in Newcastle and jumped into the River Tyne to kill himself but was rescued from the water by a police boat.
