A missing 12-year-old girl, who vanished without a trace for a week from her home in Ayr, has been found safe and is now in 'good hands' with her family. 

Jamie-Lee Harvie was last seen on Tuesday March 14 at Irvine train station near the south west coast of Scotland, boarding a train heading towards Glasgow.

A further sighting on the 18 March prompted police to renew their appeal to find the missing schoolgirl, saying that she was known to frequent the Irvine, Kilwinning and Saltcoats areas.

To her family's relief, Jamie-Lee was found safe in the Irvine area and took to social media on Wednesday to thank those who helped in the search to find her.
