Builders at an allegedly unsafe work site have been filmed in an ugly clash with union officers who came to inspect the construction.
Inspectors from the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) visited a site in Melbourne last week but were immediately met with hostility by the site manager.
The union representatives claimed the site had no shade or water for workers, the areas where they had excavated were unsafe, the on-site office was a small tin shed offering no reprieve from the heat and the water barriers were empty.
In a video filmed by the CFMEU, the union workers were seen confronting the building site manager, who initially denied he was the supervisor.
The site supervisor then threatened to call the police on the union representatives, who gladly welcome the idea.
