Beth Wood admitted two misdemeanor charges today relating to the December 8 crash. She claims to have only had two drinks at the party, and insists she wasn't impaired when she turned a corner in her state-issued Toyota Camry. She ended up not only crashing into a parked car, but also mounting it. Unable to move the car, she got out and simply walked away from the scene. She didn't report it until the next morning. She is shown in court on Thursday On December 8, Wood crashed her state-issued Toyota Camry into a parked car The other car's owner returned to find Wood's state vehicle still sitting on top of it. They alerted police, but it took a month for them to find out who was responsible. In court on Thursday, Wood admitted walking away from the scene. 'I am human. I am not perfect. I apologize to the people of North Carolina who have trusted me,' she said. Despite pleading guilty, she intends to keep her position within the state. Valverde is a US Army veteran who had lent the car to his daughter that evening. He previously told The News and Observer that Wood never called to apologize to him, and that he had to chase her down for insurance. 'I didn’t think it was right, what was going on. 'You know, she never called, she never apologized. It just seems like she’s trying to avoid taking responsibility,' he said. It's unclear what Wood's punishment will be. She admitted two Class 2 misdemeanor charges, which carry sentences including jail time or community punishment.
