President Joe Biden's approval rating dropped in the last month close to the lowest point of his presidency, according to a new poll, as his administration deals with high-profile bank failures and stubbornly high inflation.
The survey by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows his approval numbers have dropped from 45 percent last month to just 38 percent in March.
That compares with a low point of 36 percent in July, when the nation faced crippling gas and food prices.
It spells bad news for Biden who thought the worst was behind him as he gears up for a likely run for reelection.
Instead, only 31 percent of respondents approved of his handling of the economy — roughly where it has been for the past year, and a reminder that he faces an uphill fight to assure voters he is the best person for the job.
President Joe Biden was visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Ottawa on Friday. But the latest poll back home shows his approval rating has sunk to 38 percent this month
The latest figures are the lowest since he reached a low of 36 percent in July last year, when the nation faced crippling gas and food prices
And it comes amid continuing concerns among Democrats as well as Republicans that at 80 years of age he is too old to contemplate a second term.
