Chris Christie said that he will not support Donald Trump ever again – even if he is the 2024 Republican nominee for president.

Christie is one of the many Republicans eyeing a run for the GOP nomination, and has become one of the most vocal anti-Trump voices within the party in recent years.

'I can't help him. No way,' Christie told Axios when asked if he would back Trump in the case he is the party's candidate in 2024. He noted that the 76-year-old ex-president is just too old and out-of-touch.

'Look, I just can't,' Christie added. 'When you have the January 6 choir at a rally and you show video of it — I just don't think that person is appropriate for the presidency.'

His harsh rebuke of the former president comes despite the Republican National Committee likely requiring that all candidates who want to be on the debate stage sign a pledge to support whoever wins the nomination.

Christie, former governor of New Jersey, is seriously considering a run for president and returned to New Hampshire Tuesday.

It's clear that if he does launch a bid, Christie will center his run around taking out former President Trump.

'Look, what I thought in 2016 was that [Trump] going to be the nominee, and I don't want Hillary Clinton to be the president,' Christie said regarding his past support for Trump.

'Did I have concerns about him? Of course, but you probably have concerns about any candidate other than yourself in the end.'

Christie's support for Trump lasted until the January 6 Capitol attack.
