Balesh Dhankhar ledger of Korean women lured with fake job ads before he 'raped ... trends now An accused serial rapist kept a meticulous ledger of 21 young Korean women he lured with fake job ads before carrying out a series of alleged sexual assaults. Balesh Dhankhar is on trial facing 39 charges including drugging and raping five women while they were unconscious in January to October 2018, and recording them on hidden cameras. A jury heard he had a 'very specific modus operandi' to ensnare the women - using the same hotel, café, and Korean restaurant in almost all the rapes. Prosecutors alleged he spiked glasses of wine and other drinks with tablets of the sleeping drug Stilnox or infamous date-rape drug rohypnol, either at a restaurant or his flat in the World Square complex in the Sydney CBD. Dhankhar, 43, admitted on Wednesday that his scheme to meet women to satisfy his Korean fetish was 'immoral' and broke down in the witness box explaining how it worked and how to decode the ledger. Balesh Dhankhar is accused of luring five young Korean women with a fake job ad before drugging and raping them on camera hidden in a clock The first page of the meticulous 'call list' ledger Dhankhar kept of all 75 people who responded to his fake job ads from May 2018 onwards when it became difficult to keep track of them all. BASE 4 means he had sex with them The ledger, filed with the NSW District Court, reveals the scores of other women the court heard he tried the same moves on, but either discarded as not attractive enough or they did not respond to his wiles. He recorded their personal details along with note from email, phone, and in-person communication, along with plans what what to do next in an 'action' column. Dhankhar explained to the court that women he managed to have sex with were listed in the action column as 'BASE 4', a term he picked up from Hollywood movies. He explained that others were listed as 'STOP' if he was going to stop contacting them, and 'HOLD' for those put on the backburner. The court heard there were a variety of reasons why his pursuit of them could be ended or paused, including his lack of physical attraction after meeting them, or that something in their circumstances made it too difficult. There were also references to 'pipe', short for pipeline which meant they were progressing towards him having sex with them, and the column 'pipeline comment' noted how that was going. The entry for a woman he allegedly raped on September 9 noted she 'sounds cute' on the phone - but he was more enthusiastic after their meeting. 'Had dinner, super hot, applied for Emirates flight attendant, loves drinking & clubs,' it read. The action column had 'BASE 4' but a note in the 'pipeline comment' column read 'got angry on base 4, doesn't want to continue - close'. A jury heard he had a 'very specific modus operandi' to ensnare and rape the women - using the same hotel, café, and Korean restaurant in almost all the rapes The entry for a woman he allegedly raped on September 9 noted she 'sounds cute' in the phone call notes and was even more enthusiastic after their meeting - but cut off contact after she got angry Four days later, Dhankhar allegedly raped his third victim twice, despite her telling him that she didn't want to get involved with him because she had a boyfriend. The ledger entry's meeting notes acknowledged this issue with 'has a Thai BF, ready to breakup for me'. The note added 'dropped in mid night', after he lured her back to his apartment following their dinner at Koibito, a nearby Korean restaurant also close to the Hilton Hotel. The court heard this woman woke up and saw a condom wrapper and felt pain, leading her to realise they had sex. She told the court she called her boyfriend in tears saying she didn't know where she was and had to break up with him because of what happened. An entry for the fourth woman Dhankhar allegedly raped went into long detail about her English literature degree and background, but that she 'sounded bad, weak eng' on the phone. After meeting, his notes were more complimentary: 'slim, avg height, pretty 6.5, jolly... almost went to dinner but she had to go for drinks with British girls'. An update to the meeting notes column after he allegedly raped her twice after their second meeting on October 12 added 'met for dinner Fri, came home'. However, the pipeline comment read: 'got confused after base 4, take it slow and bring her in'. The entry for Dhankhar's fourth alleged victim, noting 'got confused after base 4, take it slow and bring her in' One woman was listed as being 'too smart' to fall for his schemes A woman who lived in Singapore and knew Vietnamese whose action entry read 'PIPE HOT', but noted she 'keeps cancelling meeting, very hot, keep trying'. Dhankhar told the court the 'very hot' line was an 'observation that I feel bad about' Just weeks later, Dhankhar allegedly raped his fifth victim on October 21 - but this one led to him being arrested. The woman told the court she initially gave Dhankhar the benefit of the doubt and called the alleged rape an 'accident' because he seemed like a good man and she blamed herself for what happened. 'I don't understand why we did that… first time we can call it accident, that's it. I don't want to make second time,' she wrote in a text to him days later. Her ledger entry is incomplete because he was arrested a day after meeting her, when she went to the police. It only noted her work and education background with 'fix meeting' in the action column. The court heard this woman felt dizzy after drinking wine at his flat after he lured her there to see his view of the Sydney Opera House, and retreated to the bathroom where she sent a friend a screenshot of location. 'Sister, I feel very intoxicated, however slightly different kind of intoxication. I don't know what I should do, sister…' she wrote. 'I am different drunk. I am not normal drunk and I am worried myself. [He] keeps trying to kiss me… I f**ked up.' His fifth alleged victim's ledger entry is incomplete because he was arrested a day after meeting her, when she went to the police. It only noted her work and education background with 'fix meeting' in the action column Dhankhar's arrest derailed his pursuit of another woman referenced in the ledger, as she was listed as being in the 'pipeline' When she woke up again, she dressed and tried to go home, but the walk to the door was 'painful, difficult, and endless'. The court heard the next thing she remembered was waking up to Dhankhar allegedly trying to have sex with her. She told him 'it's a crime and you don't even wear a condom' as he allegedly struggled to penetrate her and she again lost consciousness. The court heard Dhankhar drove her home and she cried uncontrollably and vomited until her roommate called the police. Other women on Dhankhar's ledger One of the first women listed, whom he met on June 20, noted she had a boyfriend but 'still scope': 'pretty face, smart, has BF, thinking to breakup'. A woman he slept with, who didn't accuse him of rape, noted as 'cute and fool'. A women he put on the backburner for her weak English but noted she was 'nerdy with short hair, cute, may be virgin'. One who 'came home easily' but wasn't listed as having had sex with him, and listed as 'cute but 30'. A young student whose call notes read 'dry and confused - try if pretty' and another who was 'sweet & dumb' A woman who lived in Singapore and knew Vietnamese whose action entry read 'PIPE HOT', but noted she 'keeps cancelling meeting, very hot, keep trying'. Dhankhar told the court the 'very hot' line was an 'observation that I feel bad about'. Two women he decided were too savvy for his scheme, one simply listed as 'TOO SMART' and the other 'asks too many questions'. A woman who he was so unimpressed by he wrote STOP not once, but twice: '5/10, lives with relatives, overprotected, dull. let her go'. Another he put on the backburner for being '6/10, tall, slim, not so pretty, lives in city with younger sister, but dull and cold, try slowly'. Advertisement Dhankhar's arrest derailed his pursuit of another woman referenced in the ledger, as she was listed as being in the 'pipeline'. 'Cute and beautiful, very quiet, went for walk to Korea town, but didn't have dinner - try,' the entry about their October 15 meeting read, with a pipeline comment advising himself to 'take slow'. Dhankhar told the court he made spreadsheets to organise everything in his life, even to make detailed itineraries for holidays that were planned down to the hour. He said the spreadsheet was created in May or June of 2018 because there was too much to keep track of and was prompted by him calling the same person twice by accident. Of the 75 people in the ledger, 54 of them were male, but still had detailed notes recorded. Though he had not sexual interest in them, they could still be of use to him as 'mules' who carried out tasks for him, such as checking translation assignments he gave the women as part of the ruse. Police discovered the ledger, saved as 'call list', on Dhankhar's computer when they raided his home and arrested him. They also found Stilnox tablets and rohypnol, both of which he had a prescription for. Dhankhar recorded the alleged rapes on a camera hidden in a clock he bought on eBay, or on his mobile phone, which were recovered by police. The jury was also shown videos of Dhankhar having consensual sex with other Korean women, but allegedly secretly recording them with the hidden camera. Police allegedly discovered 47 videos of Dhankhar having sex with Korean women on his computer, catalogued under the names. Dhankhar pleaded not guilty, claiming all five women consented to sex, and to being filmed, and is in the middle of a lengthy trial in the NSW District Court. He has spent the past more than four years fighting the charges, unsuccessfully trying to have his name suppressed. The 'lead data visualisation consultant' worked for Sydney Trains during all the alleged rapes, and was hired by Pfizer and the ABC for one-year contracts while on bail in 2019 to 2021. He is a prominent member of Australia's Indian community, being the founding president of the OFBJP - an Australian support group for India's ruling party. Dhankhar, who spent the whole three-week trial to date showing no emotion in court even as alleged rape videos were played, earlier broke down as he explained how he lured the women. Two more women in Dhankhar's ledger, one he was so unimpressed with after meeting that he wrote STOP not once, but twice, and another he put on the backburner for asking too many questions An entry for a woman Dhankhar was not overly enamoured with after meeting but kept in reserve for later One who 'came home easily' but wasn't listed as having had sex with him, and wrote she was 'cute but 30'. Another 'may be a virgin' He admitted his ruse was 'immoral', his numerous affairs on his wife made him feel guilty, and blamed it all on a mid-life crisis. Dhankhar agreed with prosecution claims he 'had a particular sexual interest in young Korean women', which he said started with Korean cinema. He said his marriage started breaking down and his wife was spending months at a time in their home country of India with his young son. Lonely and depressed, told the court he started watching pornography frequently and attended Korean language meet-up groups and salsa classes to meet Asian women. Dhankhar denied searching for porn of 'unconscious or compromised people' having sex, but may have watched them by accident. He denies having any interest in watching sleeping or drugged women porn, as the prosecution alleged.
