House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tried a new tactic Thursday to try to score an invitation to the White House for talks – offering to bring the 80-year-old president a 'soft food lunch' to jump-start negotiations.
McCarthy made the quip at his weekly press conference Thursday, days after warning Biden that and penning a letter accusing him of causing risk to a 'fragile economy' with his refusal to start negotiations on House Republicans' budget cutting demands.
'He is making the decision that he wants to put the economy in jeopardy. I don’t know what more I can do and how easy — I would bring lunch to the White House,' McCarthy said. 'I would make it soft food if that’s what he wants. It doesn’t matter. Whatever it takes to meet,' he said.
