Bank Holiday festivities turn into carnage as reveller is tackled to the ground trends now

Bank Holiday revellers across the UK will be waking with very sore heads today after piling into boozers last night to celebrate the long weekend.

Thousands headed out on Sunday to make the most of the rare extra day off but some festivities quickly turned to carnage.

One partygoer was tackled to the ground outside a nightclub in Leeds and pinned down by two men, who appeared to be bouncers.

The scuffle happened in area of the city called The Calls, which is home to a host of bars, pubs and clubs, including Revolución de Cuba, Tiki Hideaway and Revolution bar.

Two women wearing heels, could be seen crouching down in the rain and appear to be very animated while talking to the security guard.

Another bouncer stood behind them, appears to be trying to usher the women away.

Elsewhere across the country, partygoers stayed out into the early hours of the morning, enjoying Sunday's lukewarm temperatures and spitting rain, letting their hair down knowing they

In Oxford, revellers stayed up until the sun rose and marched through the streets in a strange dawn chorus of sorts.

With a lack of work on Monday morning, Sunday was the perfect opportunity for many to let their hair down and truly enjoy themselves.

People in Leeds and Liverpool city centres were pictured letting loose and heading out for drinks while dressed to impress.

Partygoers had hit the tiles on Saturday night as well, but that didn't stop others going out for their fun last night - and there's the prospect of more revelry on the horizon with another long weekend in seven days for King Charles III's Coronation.
