Two couples - one is known to be American - was caught smuggling in more than 700 pounds of Fruit Roll-Ups into Israel for their relatives as the popular 1990s snack continues to have a resurgence across TikTok.
The unidentified couple was stopped at Ben Gurion International Airport outside Lod on May 1 when their four suitcases were flagged for containing American contraband.
Officers discovered the couple had nothing but the snacks inside their bags, not even a pair of clean underwear were anywhere in sight, but when asked why they were carrying such a large amount of the pectin-based candy, they simply told officials they were bringing them for relatives to enjoy.
When the customs agent asked the man why he had not packed any clothes, he said he had clothing in Israel.
