The family of Idaho murder victim Kaylee Goncalves has said it will face suspected killer Bryan Kohberger down in court next month - as he filed a motion to delay the hearing.

The bodies of Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were found on November 13, 2022, at a rental home near the University of Idaho campus.

In a new interview with GMA, Goncalves' father said despite their heartbreak they are going to be in court next month when former criminology student Kohberger makes his appearance for a preliminary hearing.

'I can't wait to see the evidence. ... And then I'm gonna bring it. And he's gonna realize that this... is the family that's gonna make sure he doesn't get away with it,' Steve Goncalves said.

Kohberger's preliminary hearing is due to take place on June 26. This week, the suspect's lawyers filed a motion to delay a May 22 hearing on the media gag order in place. The attorney's argue that they won't to bring in an expert witness for the hearing but that he won't be available on the scheduled date.

The Goncalves family has also asked the lower court judge to lift the gag order, saying their attorney should be allowed to speak about the family's opinions on the case on their behalf. A hearing on the Goncalves' request has been set for May 25.

In the GMA interview, Goncalves' mother, Kristi, said it was a 'big thing' for the family to go in 'strong' and 'united.'

'I've never been to a preliminary trial before. ... I have no idea what to expect, I have no idea what we're going to hear. ... But I know that I've got my son, and my daughter will be there, and my sister, and my husband,' Kristi added.

She did say that during the more gruesome elements of the trial, she would prefer not to be there. 'I'm not going to scar myself. I have visions of my own that, you know, I have to deal with,' Kristi went on.

This weekend, Goncalves' siblings will accept her posthumous degree from the university. The four students will be recognized during the university's May 13 graduation ceremonies, along with another student who recently died in a car accident, and nearly 3,000 new graduates.

Kristi Goncalves also said that she does not think that her daughter and Kohberger had any connection.

'I've thought long and hard' about if Kaylee and Kohberger could have crossed paths. We've talked as a family, you know, we've done a lot of research on what's out there. ... None of it makes sense,' Kristi said.

When she first saw Kohberger in court, Kristi said that she felt completely overwhelmed and nearly passed out.
