A world leader fielded questions from reporters at the White House Friday. But it wasn't president Joe Biden, and all of his answers were in Spanish. 

Biden sat down with the prime minister of Spain at the White House Friday morning but refused to take questions from reporters in the aftermath of the end of Title 42 and other hot topics – but his counterpart held his own outdoor event with reporters.

Neither leader "took questions after making brief statements before reporters at the top of an Oval Office meeting. Instead, Biden smiled amid a barrage of questions from reporters.

Following their sit-down, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez took questions outside the West Wing of the White House in his native tongue. He spoke it a spot where lawmakers, cabinet officials, and other guests sometimes speak after White House visits. 

Biden sometimes submits to 'two-and-two' questioning along side a world leader when a key ally comes to Washington, although as the White House has noted it is done on an ad hoc basis.

The president did take multiple questions earlier in the week after an event – after confusing reporters by mentioning a 'press conference' that never happened the prior week.
