It is the erotic thriller that has become one of the year’s most anticipated books – and Theresa May provided the inspiration for one of its steamiest scenes, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.
Whips, by former No 10 aide Cleo Watson, which is being exclusively serialised in today’s You magazine, features a string of X-rated Westminster couplings as part of what has been described as a ‘riotous and all too believable’ portrayal of sex and power.
Today’s extract includes a clinch at Chequers, the Prime Minister’s country estate, between ambitious MP Simon Daly and Millie Sackler, the ‘sexually voracious’ wife of another MP.
Ms Watson – nicknamed the Gazelle while working at Downing Street – sets the scene by the stained-glass windows at Chequers, which bear the coats of arms of former PMs.
She writes: ‘Daly leans in and kisses gently along her collarbone. She smiles impishly. “You naughty boy, everyone’s outside...” ‘In the grounds down below, the party in full swing, one of the PM’s protection officers nudges his colleague in the ribs and inclines his head at an upstairs stained-glass window, where the imprint of a pair of pale bum cheeks is undulating against the glass for anyone to see.’
