Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz says he 'thought about vacating the planet' as sex ... trends now
Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz has said he had suicidal thoughts during the blow out from his two illicit affairs, after he was forced to tell his wife he'd been unfaithful.
The disgraced pastor, who was once close with celebrities like Justin Bieber, revealed that amidst the fallout from his scandal, he 'thought about vacating the planet' in FX's new documentary series, The Secrets of Hillsong.
Wife Laura and Carl were ousted from Hillsong Church in 2020 following a cheating scandal involving him and fashion designer Ranin Karim, which tarnished the pastor's reputation.
It then emerged that he also was having an affair with his family nanny, Leona Kimes, who was also part of the church.
Carl admitted to having suicidal thoughts, and said in the documentary: 'I'm tired of this damage, I'm tired of this wreckage, I'm tired of putting people I love through pain. I did those things, those are on me, I take responsibility for those.'

According to PEOPLE, the ex-pastor said in the documentary: 'I had some major lies and secrets I was carrying for years. If you are led by somebody, you have to trust them. One of the biggest [mistakes] of my life was that breach of trust for thousands of people, especially my wife, my children.'
During the documentary, Carl - who set up New York City's branch of the megachurch - also claimed that he himself was abused as a child.
Laura Lentz, his wife, recalled the moment that her husband told her he'd been unfaithful when 'incriminating' text messages with Karim came to light: 'Carl was like, 'Hey, can I talk to you for a second?' As soon as he shut the door…my heart just dropped.
'He basically said, 'I've been unfaithful to you.'''
Carl said that it was something he'd never recover from: 'Just the sound of her voice, the kind of cry that she had was like no other cry I've ever heard.
