Teen 'ran red light' before allegedly mowing down three schoolkids on one of Australia's busiest highways

A teenage boy has been charged after a shocking crash on a busy city street that saw three schoolchildren rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the Pacific Highway near Falcon Street in Crows Nest in Sydney's north shore at about 3:30pm on Thursday.

Police were told three boys, two aged 12 and one aged 13, were knocked to the ground by the car while crossing the road to a green pedestrian signal.

All three boys sustained leg and head injuries.

They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before the 12-year-olds were taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a stable
