Running a close second to legendary rocker Jeff Beck’s love of music was his enthusiasm for motoring. Now a guitar that combined his twin passions – and which he gave to a girlfriend as a present – is set to fetch up to £80,000 at auction.
Beck, who died earlier this year aged 78, commissioned the Fender Stratocaster – known as the ‘graffiti yellow’ model – in the exact colour of the iconic car featured in the hit film American Graffiti.
He later presented the custom-made instrument to pilot Suzy O’Hara during a two-year relationship in which she taught him to fly, in exchange for him teaching her the guitar.
