A man in his 60s has died after collapsing with a cardiac arrest while walking in a popular beauty spot, police said.
Lancashire Police officers were called just after 9.20am on Sunday morning to Rivington Country Park.
Two nurses who happened to be passing joined other walkers in giving the man CPR as they waited for medical teams to arrive.
The North West Air Ambulance (NWAA) landed on top of the Pike - which sizzled on 18C (64F) temperatures through the day - but despite best efforts the walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rivington Pike is a hill on Winter Hill, part of the West Pennine Moors at Rivington, Chorley in Lancashire, England. It is a popular spot for walkers in both Lancashire and Greater Manchester due to its location by the two county borders.
