Madeline Kingsbury investigation: Special prosecutor brought in to assist in ... trends now

A special prosecutor has been pulled out of retirement to investigate the disappearance of Minnesota mom Madeline Kingsbury, 26, who went missing nearly two months ago.

Madeline's sister confirmed to local outlets that Phil Prokopowicz, the former chief deputy attorney in Dakota County, has been brought in to help.

Prokopowicz, who has been called 'arguably one of the best in the business,' is assisting Winona County law enforcement, the sister said.

'We don't have a ton of details right now as far as what specifically he is looking into as the immediate concern is the custody trial,' Megan Kingsbury told KTTC.

Madeline disappeared from Winona on March 31 after dropping her kids at daycare, sparking a massive search for the missing mom.

'The Winona County Attorney's Office has brought on Mr. Prokopowicz in a consulting capacity, as they often do for cases that are potentially complex,' Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokesman Bonne Bowman said told Fox News.

Prokopowicz's recruitment comes as her family is engaged in a messy custody battle involving Madeline's ex, Adam Fravel.

The children are staying with Kingsbury's father and a custody hearing is scheduled in Winona County for June 6.

Fravel, the father of the Minnesota woman's children, was the last person to see Madeline alive on the morning of March 31.

The ex claimed he had nothing to do with her suspicious disappearance.

Talking with Fox News, Megan said she doesn't know how her sister hasn't been found.

'How is she still missing — like, how?' Megan said through tears.

'I just don't understand. Somebody has to know something about what
