Peacock takes a dig at HBO Max re-brand in VERY cheeky tweet as other brands ... trends now

NBCUniversal's streaming service Peacock has taken a very cheeky dig at HBO Max's rebrand to 'MAX' by tweeting that, unlike its rival, it will not be dropping the first part of its name.

'I know you’re all very disappointed, but I will *not* be dropping the first half of my name any time soon,' Peacock's official Twitter account shared Tuesday morning.

The tweet quickly blew up on the social media app, receiving thousands of retweets and favorites and hundreds of replies, including from other brands piling on.

'What happened to fun...' Entertainment Weekly wrote in a response accompanied by a picture of actor Mads Mikkelsen looking forlorn and smoking a cigarette.

Warner Bros Discovery launched MAX on Tuesday, merging Discovery+ with HBO Max in a rename that merges prestige television with HGTV and TLC shows.

NBCUniversal's streaming service Peacock has hilariously responded to HBO Max's rebrand as 'MAX' in a tweet informing users they will not be dropping the first part of their name

Since posting, the tweet has been viewed more than 3.3 million times.

'That means you'll be dropping the SECOND half of your name, right? You know you want to, Pea...' one Twitter user responded.

'We didn't know Toby worked at Peacock now,' The Office's Twitter account wrote.

'Maybe next year,' replied Hard Mountain Dew.

Another person responded with a screengrab of Sebastian Stan in Peacock's own 'Bupkis' starring Pete Davidson in which he shortens the app's name.

'It's streaming on Peacock. It's streaming on the Cock!' the quote reads.

Among some of the brands and accounts to weigh in on HBO Max's name shortening were Denny's Diner, Hayu, Camping World, and Community.

'In unrelated news, we're excited to announce that starting today, we've officially changed our name to DINER,' Denny's official Twitter account shared.

One Twitter user named Eric Zhu contributed to the gag surrounding MAX by shortening names and logos for other major brands.

'In honor of HBO Max rebranding to Max, I made these designs for other brands,' Zhu wrote alongside logos for Dick's, Five Guys, and YouTube.
