HBO Max's Succession hit its best viewership rating across all four seasons with 2.9million tuning in for the season four finale

More than one million more viewers switched on the season four finale than they did for the end of season three, according to the network - a viewership high for the drama series. 

It also broke its highest episode viewership. Prior to Sunday's finale, Episode 6 of Season 4 - which aired at the end of April - held the most viewers at 2.75million. 

On average, the massively successful show pulled in 8.7million viewers per episode, including delayed viewing. 

Season four was the most watched of the series as a whole, bringing in 1.5million more viewers per episode than season three on average.

It is also a favorite contender for this year's Emmy's, as fans are hoping to see it win best drama again. 

However, the show is not HBO Max's most popular show by any means. Euphoria and The White Lotus both pulled in millions of more viewers per episode - 19.5million and 15.5million, respectively, with delayed viewing included. And other popular shows, such as House of Dragon and The Last of Us received around 30million views per episode, with
