Four young children have died after their apartment building caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
Memphis Fire Department officials say the deadly blaze broke out at around 3pm at a six-to-eight unit apartment complex on East Alston Avenue.
Firefighters arrived on the scene nearly half an hour later, and found the four children inside a back bedroom.
The children were just 1, 3, 4 and 5, according to their grandfather, who noted that the 3-year-old had celebrated her birthday just one day before.
