The bodies of three men who had been reported missing after a building partially collapsed in eastern Iowa have been recovered from the site, police said on Monday.

The recoveries took place over the weekend - nearly a week after a six-story apartment building collapsed on the Sunday of Memorial Day in Davenport, Iowa, displacing dozens of residents and business owners.

Branden Colvin Sr., 42, Ryan Hitchcock, 51, and Daniel Prien, 60, were believed to have been at home during the collapse and had been declared missing after the initial rescues.

The city's police chief Jeff Bladel said there currently isn't information about any additional people missing.

Meanwhile, the first lawsuit against the city and building's owner has already been filed.

Tenant Dayna Feuerbach has accused the city of Davenport, as well as the building's current and former owners, of multiple counts of negligence, claiming they knew of the deteriorating conditions and failed to warn residents of the risk.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and notes that additional suits are likely.

Rescues were made difficult by the fact that the remains of the building were constantly in motion in the first 24 to 36 hours after it collapsed, putting rescuers at great risk.

However, since the area has been stabilized, crews have been seen using an excavator and other heavy equipment to pull out parts of a debris pile.

Davenport officials said they were consulting with experts about how to safely bring down the rest of the structure. The city fire marshal earlier said explosives would not be used because it´s close to other buildings in a busy part of downtown Davenport.

Mayor Mike Matson said Monday that neither he nor other city officials have been in touch with building owner Andrew Wold.
