Walmart leads Fortune 500 list for the 11th year in a row as Amazon places ... trends now
Walmart held onto the top spot on Fortune's 2023 list of the 500 largest U.S. companies for the 11th year in a row while Amazon came in second, in a list notable for the rise of healthcare giants.
Walmart generated $611 billion cumulative revenue in a year as Amazon.com saw a nine percent jump in revenue, surpassing the $513 billion mark.
Chevron was back in the top 10 for the first time since 2015, Fortune reported, after the energy company knocked AmerisourceBergen from the spot it held in 2022, with its revenues climbing more than 52 percent last year, posting a record $36.5 billion in profit.
The list of the largest corporations in the United States is ranked by revenue for the 2022 fiscal year. The revenue threshold for the list was $7.2 billion this year, which was a 13 percent increase from a year ago.

Healthcare companies are growing in size, and that was reflected in the rankings. Eight healthcare companies ranked in the top 25 and 16 were in the top 100.
UnitedHealth Group is the highest-ranked healthcare company on the list at No. 5, followed by CVS Health at No. 6.
CVS Health CEO Karen Lynch continues to make Fortune 500 history at the helm of the highest-ranked company ever led by a female CEO. The chain reported 2022 revenue of $322 billion.

For the first time in its 69-year history, over 10 percent of the companies on the Fortune 500 list have female CEOs.
The rankings also displayed how headlines impacted companies' standings. Gas prices hit record highs in many states during the summer of 2022, with some areas over $6 a gallon. Exxon Mobil had a 45 percent jump in revenue and came in at No. 3
