A Brazilian influencer and reporter has died after complications from a butt lift surgery performed by a man who claimed to be a 'nurse.'

Lygia Fazio, 40, was hospitalized at the beginning of May after she had silicone and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) injected into her buttocks.

She was hospitalized for four weeks before her condition worsened and is believed to have suffered a stroke. The mother of two young boys, aged 2 and 11, died May 31, her family said in a statement.

In an interview with a local outlet several years ago, she acknowledged she was only looking to make minor changes to her butt before her boyfriend convinced her to get something 'much bigger.'

Fazio had more than 900,000 followers on her Instagram account, which she used as a tool to warn women about the dangers of having surgery to alter your appearance.
